Review: Ipsy Glam Bag June 2014

Hi Ladies,
I'm pretty pumped about summer finally being here. Its already half way through the month which is crazy. That means I am getting pretty close to my Mexico trip! What it also means is that it's time to review this month's Ipsy Glam Bag!  If you are unfamiliar with Ipsy, it is a monthy beauty subscription service. For $10.00 a month, you get 4-5 deluxe to full size beauty products. To learn more you can check out my previous Ipsy reviews on my Subscription Reviews tab at the top of my blog. The theme of this month is "Pretty in Paradise". Designed Rebecca Minkoff designed this month's bag. I thought that was pretty cool. In general, I wasn't excited about this month's offerings but wasn't disappointed either.

Here are the items that I recieved:

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray
This is a travel size of the spray and is 1.52 oz.  The full size is 4.2 oz and costs $6.99. This puts the sample cost at about $2.52. I wasn't thrilled about getting this because I recently just purchased a full size of the Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. It didn't really work like I hoped so I really don't have high hopes for this product either. However, Cella over at Never Not Glamorous told me how she uses these types of product so I am going to try her method and see how my hair comes out.

DD Cream Dermatologically Defining BB Cream with Broad Spectrum SPF 30
I was happy to see that I got a BB cream because I have been using the Rimmel one a lot lately. However, this one is confusing? Is it a BB cream? Or a DD Cream? What's a DD cream? I was hoping that this sample was going to be bigger. Its 10 ml. The full size product is 40 ml and $38.00. This puts the sample at $9.50. I like that this color adjusts to your skin tone. I also think it has decent coverage for a BB cream. I used it with a power over it though since its not quite enough coverage for me. I felt that my face got more oily than normal wearing this. I also wouldn't spend $38.00 for this product.

Nyx Butter Gloss in Eclair
This is a full size product and cost $5.00. I like butter glosses but I already have this shade. I will probably save this for a giveaway. Butter glosses feel nice on the lips and look good over lipstick. I just wish that they had more pigmentation on their own.

Nicka K New York Shimmer Eyeliner in Green/Teal
This was my favorite thing that I got in my bag this month. It is full size and cost $4.99. I love the color and it stays on pretty well. I had to scrub my hand with a makeup remover wipe to get it off. Even after wiping it off there was still a little bit left on my hand. After trying it, there were some positives and negatives. Starting with the negatives; the applicator was a hard plastic and kind of hurt my eyelids. This was because you needed to apply the liner more than once. When you kept going over it, it was kind of wiping the color off from the previous coat. So it was a bit hard to apply. For the pros; after I got it applied the way I liked, it stayed put ALL DAY. From about 7:30 am to 9:30 pm. It didn't budge, fade, or smudge and was just as brilliant as when I first applied it. This was a major plus.

Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara
This is a full size product and retails for $15.00. It is supposed to be a lengthening mascara. Right off the bat before I even got my Ipsy bag, I read on Instagram that this mascara smells terrible. People were going OFF on how gross it smells this and that. Be a Bombshell responded saying that this mascara is not rancid or bad. They claim that they don't add any artificial fragrances to their mascaras so that people with sensitivities don't react negatively to their mascara. I am going to trust their claims and try this out before jumping the gun and throwing it out. I did smell it and it does smell funky.

Rebecca Minkoff Cosmetic Bag
I really liked the Rebecca Minkoff bag this month. Its really cute and I love the floral patter and colors. I will definitely make use of this bag.

Overall, this month's bag was OK. I actually liked last month's items better. The bag and the eyeliner are the two standout items for me. I was excited that we were getting Nyx this month but was kinda bummed when I got a color that I already have.  However, I still highly recommend Ipsy since I got $37.01 worth of products for only $10.00. You really can't beat this deal. Also, it introduces me to a ton of new products and brands that I have never tried before.
