Review: Nyx Luv Out Loud Liquid Lipsticks*

Hey Guys,
Today I am going to share my thoughts on the new Nyx Luv Out Loud Liquid Lipsticks. I was so excited when Nyx reached about sending these new lipsticks out for me to try. For those of you that have followed my blog since the very beginning, you might remember that some of my earlier blog posts were reviews of some of their other lip products. I have been a Nyx customer for many years and some of their products are holy grail status for me like my beloved Micro Brow. I couldn't wait to give these a try! Keep reading to hear my thoughts on these and to see some lip and arm swatches. I also included a link to my lip swatch video!

Here is what is said about this product on the Nyx site:
"What qualities make a person beautiful? Passion, confidence and fearlessness, to name a few. Available in six velvety-matte shades, our new Luv Out Loud Liquid Lipsticks capture the attributes we at NYX Professional Makeup find truly beautiful."

This lipstick currently comes in 6 limited edition shades.

These aren't your normal liquid lipsticks. They have more of a moussey and creamy texture rather than a liquid consistency. The applicator is on the longer side but was fine to use. They have a sweet scent and are packed with pigmentation. I always apply lip balm before any liquid lipstick. I find these really comfortable. They dry down to a semi-matte finish and I didn't find them overly drying on the lips. I don't think that they are super long wearing and they do transfer. This doesn't bother me because I would take a comfortable lipstick over a drying one that lasts long any day. I have worn Brilliant several times and it does come off a bit after eating and such. I would imagine you would need even more of a retouch for the darker and less neutral shades. If I had to compare these to another product out there, I would say they are very similar to the Tarte Tartiest Creamy Matte Lip Paint but for less than half the price! In terms of colors, my favorites are Brilliant (rosy nude) and Extraordinary (rich magenta). I think it is best to apply a lip liner before applying these for a clean line. It gets a little hard to have a perfect line with the darker colors. I didn't use a lip liner in the swatches below but think it would help for the darker colors especially. The only color I really had an issue with when it comes to application was the darker purple shade Brave. It applied a little bit patch but after a few layers I got it to look nice.

Here are lip swatches of the shades:

Top Left: Confident (pale nude) Top Right: Brilliant (rosy nude)
Middle Left: Passionate (deep violet) Middle Right: Extraordinary (rich magenta)
Bottom Left: Fearless (dusty lavender) Bottom Right: Brave (blackened plum)

These look a bit ligher in the pictures above than in real life.

Overall, I really think these are great lipsticks! I think that some of these shades were meant to be fun and out of the box which I know some people love. I prefer more of a neutral lip and hope that they come out with more neutral shades! I think this may be my favorite Nyx lip formula so far!

Thanks again to Nyx for sending me these products to try out!
