Review: Ipsy Glam Bag October 2014

Hi Ladies!
I'm back with another Ipsy Glam Bag review!  I'm so excited that October is here! My husband and I LOVE Halloween and all the fun that comes along with it. Although I have not been able to do all the thing I usually do around this time of year, I am having a Halloween Party which is cool.  For those of you unfamiliar with  Ipsy, it is a monthly beauty subscription service. For $10.00 a month, you get 4-5 deluxe to full size beauty products. To learn more you can check out my previous Ipsy reviews on my Subscription Reviews tab at the top of my blog.  The theme of this month's bag is "Beauty Candy". I was expecting to see Halloween themed items or colorful bright colors. This was not the case but I really don't mind either way. I was really happy with my bag last month so I had high hopes for this month.

Lets move on to the items that I recieved!

Rogue by Rihanna
I was so excited to see this perfume in my Glam Room. I own Rihanna's Reb'l Fleur and Nude and love them both. I figured I would love this one as well. When I got my bag, I couldn't believe how big this sample was! It is a really decent size (15 ml). The estimated value of this perfume sample was $8.38. Unfortunately, when I sprayed this perfume I was not impressed. I cannot stand the smell!

Here are the perfume notes:

Top Notes: Flirtatious petals of Lemon Blossom and Cyclamen are brightened with Bergamot and spiced with Pink Peppercorn.

Mid Notes: Jasmine, Rose and Muget fused together with Juicy Plum and Suede.

Base Notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli and Golden Amber surround decadent Vanilla and Sensual Musk.

I tried to spray it on my wrist and see if the scent changed and it was just awful. I had to wipe it off. It had a very strong, spicy, overly heavy smell which I am not a fan of.  It reminds me of super strong perfume an older woman would wear. As you can tell, this was a huge disappointment for me.

MICA Beauty Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadow in Harlequin
I was happy to see that I was getting a shadow but iffy about it since it was a loose powder.  This is a greenish/blue color with gold flecs. In some lighting it looks more green and in other more turquoise. I'm usually not a fan of these because they are messy and usually not really pigmented. When I swatched the color I thought it was really pretty. Once I used this I was pretty impressed by the pigmentation considering it is a loose powder. It went on nice and smoothly and didn't need to be layered several times. After wearing it for several hours, the shadow did fade and crease a lot which was very disappointing. The color also faded significantly. This is a full sized product and retails for $14.95.

Starlooks Lip Gloss in Guilty Pleasure
I was happy to see a lip product as well but was honestly hoping for a lipstick. I used to mainly purchase lip glosses back a few years ago but now I am all about lipsticks. Regardless, this is a pretty neutral pink color with no glitter. It is pretty pigmented which is nice.  The size of this is ridiculous though. It is so small. Maybe in inch tall? This deluxe sample has a value of about $4.00.

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser
I wasn't super excited about this product but was indifferent about it. I have been trying so many new skin care products that I didn't need another cleanser. It did sound nice though. I have two co-workers that also subscribe to Ipsy and one of them traded their City Color Lipstick in exchange for this. So other than that, I can't really comment about the product besides that my friend liked it. This is a deluxe sample with a value of about $4.08.

City Color Be Matte Lipstick in Cappuccino
I was so happy when my friend agreed to trade for this. I have been wanting to try more City Color products for a while. This is a matte lipstick and is a nude pink-brown color. It is extremely dry when applying it to your lips. Before wearing it, I applied lip balm to add moisture to my lips. It is a very pretty color and really pigmented. This is a full sized product and retails for $5.00.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing
I wasn't super excited to see this in my bag either. I have tried several different more minimizing primers and none really made that big of a difference. That being said, this one does help hide my pores more than other ones that I have tried. It is pretty pricey as a full sized product is $39.00. This deluxe sample has a value of about $9.75 which is a lot for this tiny little sample.

I really liked the bag this month. It is the same material is the black studded one I got in my first Ipsy bag. I like that its not cloth and can be wiped off easily if it gets dirty. I also like the quilted pattern and color.

Here is a picture of me wearing the Mica Beauty Mineral Eyeshadow and the City Color Be Matte Lipstick.
Overall, I was more excited about this bag before I actually got the products and tried them out. Once I tested the products they were actually a bit disappointing. It was definitely a bummer about the Rihanna perfume but at least I know not to ask for it for Christmas anymore. The total value of this bag (minus the City Color Lipstick) was $43.16. Like I say every month, this bag is worth the $10.00 that I paid. I just got duds this month. I would have liked to see more full sized products in this bag as well. I know some people did get more full sized products. I hope Ipsy steps it up with their bags as they have a lot of other subscription boxes to compete with. I can't wait to see next month's bag!
