Here is what is said about this product on the Althea site:
"Althea's very own product range is here, and we're starting off strong with the Petal Velvet Powder! This debuting beauty is a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves behind a silky finish to the touch. Infused with oil from Althea seeds, this powder works to keep sebum production at bay without drying out the skin for a radiant, fresh look, all while giving out a gentle scent. Keep your makeup looking great all day or dust some on to stay shine-free!"

On to my thoughts:
This product is supposed to be applied with either the powder puff it comes with or a brush. You are supposed to gently sweep over your face. It is supposed to make your skin feel silky smooth and give you a flawless petal like complexion. The powder is finely milled and is supposed to minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines. It is also supposed to help control oil and shine giving a satin finish by mattifying without drying out your skin.
This powder doesn't have a strong scent at all and has a velvet smooth texture. When applied to the skin it doesn't seem to give a white cast or powdery look which I like. It works pretty well as a setting powder and gives a velvety smooth look to the skin. It also doesn't feel heavy on the skin. I think it does minimize the look of my pores in some areas on my face like on my nose, forehead, as well as my cheeks. However my pores are sill visible on my cheeks near my nose where they are the largest. I like it even more as a blotting powder to touch up my face throughout the day. I start to get oily in my t-zone around 1-2pm and this powder does a great job at fixing that. I've tried some pressed blotting powders in the past and they have left my face looking white and powdery. This does not do that and sort of melts into your skin.  It's a great size to throw in my purse for touch ups during the day. I also like that it comes with a little puff so that I don't have to carry around a brush as well. For $4.50, I think it does a great job at controlling oil and highly recommend it.

Below are two pictures of me. The first picture is after work at about 6:00PM. I have had the Petal Velvet Powder on my whole face all day long (11 hours). As you can see, my face is a bit oily in my t-zone. In the second picture I have used the powder to touch up my t-zone. The oil is gone and my face looks more matte in that area.
