Hi Ladies,
Below is my review of Jaunary's Glam Bag. If you have never heard of Ipsy and want to learn more you can read my first review HERE. I can say I definitely liked last month's bag better. I do not like getting skin care items because I am happy with the products I currently use and do not want to change that. I don't mind getting an occasional mask or things like that. But lotions and acne treatments do not interest me. I would way rather get all make products in my bag. With that said, I was happy when I looked at what other people got. I got two makeup products out of the five items so I was happy about that. Some people got one makeup item or all skin care. So in that sense, Ipsy did a good job listening to what I like.
Mica Beauty Tinted Lip Balm in Fiesta $30.00
I was excited to see this product in my makeup bag since there weren't many makeup products being sent out this month. I was also happy I got the Fiesta shade. It is really pretty. I don't love having to put my finger into the pot. I was surprised to see how pigmented this lip balm was. However, I would not really call it a lip balm. It is not moisturizing and dries with almost a powder finish. This full size product comes with a lip applicator I believe and retails for $30.00. I would not spend that much for this product but I liked getting it in my bag. The full size product includes 4g of product while my sample comes with 2.5g. This makes my sample worth $18.75.
Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil in Pearl $14.99
I was also happy to see that I got this eye pencil. I thought it was going to be more of a chubby short shadow pencil but it was actually a skinny sample size pencil. The color is pretty but it is really light. I would only use it for highlighting the inner corner of my eyes and lower lash line. One thing I could not figure out until I just went to the website was if this was a twist up pencil or a sharpen one. I couldn't twist it and it felt plastic to me so I was puzzled. The cost of $14.99 for the full size pencil seems a little much. I have bought other pencils for this price but it all depends on how much I like it. The full size liner has 1.5g of product. Our sample is about 0.7g so the cost would be about $7.00-$8.00.
Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion $21.99
This is another product that was a deluxe sample. The full size 1.7 oz product retails for $21.99. If I do the math correctly, our 0.5 oz sample costs about $6.47. While this lotion was in fact lightweight and had a pleasant subtle smell, I love my current face cream so I wouldn't use this. I will probably give this to one of my friends or family members.
Briogeo Don't Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask $26.00
This product didn't really wow me either but I tried it out anyways to see how I liked it. The smell is amazing. It has a sweet almond fragrance to it. The full size product comes with 5.25 oz. Our sample is 1 oz so the cost is about $4.95. Once again this is a deluxe sample. This product is great for someone that wants to try out new hair products. However, for $26.00 for the full size product, I would probably buy something that is more inexpensive.
proactiv Mark Fading Pads
This product is part of a complete system so I could not get the estimated cost of these. I used to use proactiv back in Jr. High School and thought it was OK. Even though I wasn't really interested in these pads I decided to try one out anyway. The pads have a strong alcohol/medication smell. I swiped it across my clean face and it started to tingle then burn. It says to keep the product on but but I washed it off right away. I would NOT recommend these to anyone.
Overall, I wasn't super happy about this bag but I did get a couple decent products. The samples in our bag cost about $37.67 (not including whatever the cost of the pads are). So yes, I do think the bag is worth the $10.00 I paid. Hopefully next month we get more makeup and full size products.
xoxo Tanya
