2015 Golden Globes: Red Carpet Favorites

Hi Guys,
Did you guys watch the Golden Globes? I didn't but I made sure to check out the Red Carpet looks! This is the only part of award shows that really interests me (aside from MTV award shows). I wanted to quickly share my favorite looks of the night. See below!

 Jessica Chastain in Altelier Versace
The copper/bronze color of this dress looks so nice with Jessica's hair and skin tone. I love the plunging neckline and gathered waist to accentuate her curves.

Review:Meghan Naik x ColourPop Collab Shadow Foursome and Lumiere Lippie Stix and Pencil

Hi Ladies!
Today I'm going to share my thoughts on ColourPop's collaborations with Megan Naik and Kathleen Lights. Megan Naik is a makeup artist and Kathleen Lights is a YouTube beauty vlogger. ColourPop has done quite a few collaborations with beauty vloggers and makeup artists lately. The products below are the ones that have caught my eye the most.

Megan Niak x ColourPop

ColourPop's site notes that "This foursome collection highlights the gorgeous landscape of colors and textures of the middle east."
Amira
ColourPop Amira
ColourPop Amira
Amira is said to be a deepened burgundy with pink violet glitter with Metallic finish. It is the least opaque of the four in my opinion. I had some issues applying this color to my crease because these shadows apply best with your finger. Applying to your crease can get a little tricky. When I use a brush the color payoff is no where near as good as when using my fingers. Maybe this color is better for the lids.

Farah

ColourPop Farah
ColourPop Farah
Farah is a deep brown in a Matte finish. ColourPop's matte finishes are not completely matte in my opinion. However, they are the most "matte" compared to their other shades. I think they still have a slight satin-ish finish though. This color is really pretty and super pigmented! Its a great brown for using on the crease or on your lower lash line.

Lectra

ColourPop Lectra
ColourPop Lectra
Lectra is an antique gilded gold with multi- coloured and multi- dimensional glitter in a metallic finish. It is super glittery and has specs of purple and pink in it. I feel like I would like this color a little more if it had a bit less glitter. Other than that it is a pretty color and very pigmented. This is a great shade for the lid.
Onai
ColourPop Onai
ColourPop Onai
Onai is creamy white with blue violet opalescent duo chrome in a satin finish. It comes off a little pink-ish to me. I thought I wasn't going to like this color but its actually a great highlight shade for under the brow or for the inner corners.
Megan Niak x ColourPop Swatches
Swatches L-R: Onai, Lectra, Amira, Farah

Overall, I liked this set but didn't LOVE it. The matte shades were the standouts for me. I think I just need to figure out how to work with these types of shadows and application may become easier for me.

ColourPop Lumiere
ColourPop Lumiere Swatches
Lumiere is a matte dusty pink. It is so beautiful! I am really loving these Lippie Stix. They are all super pigmented and creamy. I don't find this to be drying. I think this would look great with both a neutral eye or a more bold smokey eye.

Here are some looks that I created using these ColourPop products:

ColourPop Lumiere
Brow: Onai
Lid: Lectra
Crease: Amira
Lower Lash Line: Farah
Lips: Lumiere Lippie Stix and Pencil
ColourPop Megan Niak Makeup Look 2
ColourPop Megan Niak Makeup Look 2
ColourPop Megan Niak Makeup Look 2
ColourPop Brink
Brow and Lid: Onai
Crease and Lower Lash Line: Farah
Lips: Brink Lippie Stix and Pencil

Even though I didn't LOVE the Megan Niak foursome, I still think it is a great price! I wouldn't say don't get it just because of my experience. Some people might really love this kit. I really like Lumiere and can't wait to use it more. The quality, price, and fact that ColourPop products are made in the U.S. and cruelty free keep me coming back for more!

Have you tried either of these products? What are your thoughts? Post your comments below.

Review: Aveeno Active Naturals Smart Essentials*

Hi Ladies!
I'm here to share a new line of skincare products by Aveeno. The line is called Aveeno Smart Essentials (Fresh Essentials in Canada). I'm sure most of you are familiar with the brand Aveeno and its famous spokesperson Jennifer Aniston. It is a popular skincare brand found nationwide at most local drugstores, grocery stores, and mass merchandisers like Target and Walmart. The Aveeno brand focuses on natural ingredients paired with scientific technology to create products that are great for your skin and protect it from everyday environmental factors.
Aveeno Fresh Essentials
*The products recieved are samples from a PR agency in Canada which is why they are called Fresh Essentials and not Smart Essentials. However, they are the same products.

Aveeno's Smart Essentials (Fresh Essentials) line focuses on keeping what's good for your skin in and whats bad out.  The formula is made with anti-oxidants including Southernwood Extract and Vitamins A, C, and E. The products are said to help skin retain and replenish moisture while leaving the skin looking and feeling refreshed. The anti-oxidants are said to strengthen the skins moisture barrier helping protect the skin from the environment.  "In a clinical study, 100% of women who used Aveeno Smart Essentials showed improvement in the look of their stressed skin, including dark under eye circles, dry patches, and dullness" (Taken from Aveeno Fact Sheet).

Review: FarmHouse Fresh Splendid Dirt Nutrient Mud Mask with Organic Pumpkin Puree

Hi Ladies!
Today I want to share with you an awesome brand that I discovered on the Dermstore site. FarmHouse Fresh is a Texas based skincare and body care brand that is paraben and sulfate free. Many of their products are natural, vegan, and/or gluten free. The product that I recently purchased was their Splendid Dirt Nutrient Mud Mask with Organic Pumpkin Puree. They had a bunch of other masks that interested me but I decided to try this one.

Splendid Dirt Nutrient Mud Mask with Organic Pumpkin Puree $20.00
Splendid Dirt Nutrient Mud Mask with Organic Pumpkin Puree
Here is what is said about this mask on the FarmHouse Fresh site:
"Get dirty! Red, blotchy, and oily skin- you've met your mask. Splendid Dirt is a natural, nutrient-rich pot of Illite and Bentonite clays, fresh enzyme-full pumpkin puree, and active yogurt cultures that instantly boosts overall radiance by deep cleansing pores, temporarily shrinking their look, and improving the look of broken capillaries and uneven skin tones. This thick blended puree goes on whipped and velvety smooth, bringing a party-orange pumpkin face that might scare the neighbors, but will seriously de-gunk and help purify even the most congested skin.

You'll feel Splendid Dirt working- a mild tingling sensation begins as oxygenation and circulation increases. The feeling is temporary, and as the mask dries, skin is actually left calmed and soothed, decreasing everyday blotchiness. It is recommended for all skin types, except those with sensitive skin, at least once per week. We LOVE it after using One Fine Day Flawless Face Polish!"

Onto my thoughts about this product:
I love the packaging of this product. Its in a decent sized glass container with a tin top. It gives vintage/home made feel to the product. The mask itself has a pudding consistency. It smells AWESOME! Just like pumpkin pie! Yum! The product spreads pretty easily on your face. I applied a decent layer to my skin and it harden in a few minutes. Coming from someone that doesn't like tingle/burn products I was a little scared when I read that this tingles. However, it got great reviews and people raved about how clean their skin felt after. This product does in fact tingle/burn for a couple minutes but I stayed strong and refused to wash it off. The tingling sensation does die down after a couple minutes. Then your face just feels a cool sensation. After washing this off my face felt so soft and clean.

Here is how the mask looked once it started drying on my skin:

Overall, I am so happy with this mask and glad that I discovered this brand. The mask is a good size for the price that you pay. It definitely beats the price of the Glam Glow masks which are 3x as much money. It smells great and works awesome. I really can't wait to try more masks and other products by FarmHouse Fresh!

Review: Winter Walmart Beauty Box

Hi Guys!
I recently recieved my Winter Walmart Beauty Box! For those of you unfamiliar with the box, is a quarterly beauty subscription that you get every three months. The box is FREE and all that you pay is $5.00 for shipping. In the box you get a bunch of different beauty samples (and full size products). The products are picked based on your profile as well as the season that they send the box in. From what I have read, there were several different variations this month.

Here is what I recieved:
