Battle of the Volumizing Mascaras

Hi Ladies!

My M.A.C. Zoomlash mascara is drying up and starting to make my lashes look clumpy so I decided to try out some new mascaras. I really like mascaras that make my lashes full and dramatic. When purchasing them I look for ones that mention dramatic lashes or volume.

L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly

I got this mascara in my stocking at Christmas so I tried this out first. I saw some good reviews on this so I was excited to try it. The wand is rubber/plastic and has a very weird shape. It is almost triangle shaped. Though it did a great job at separating the lashes without clumps, I had a really hard time using this.

The shape of the brush had a lot to do with it. Also, it didn't do much to make my lashes look thick and dramatic. I tried this a couple times but just don't like it. I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nyx Le Frou Frou

I have never tried a Nyx mascara before so I decided to pick one up. I chose this one because it mentioned that it was a volumizing mascara. I didn't love this one but I didn't hate it either.

I definitely don't think it did much to give my eyes a dramatic look but it did give a nice natural look to them. It didn't clump at all. The mascara itself was a little watery and not very thick. I would recommend this mascara to someone looking for more of a natural look.

Maybelline the Colossal Cat Eyes

After the Voluminous Butterfly being a dud, I tried this Maybelline mascara. The bristles are more the kind that I like but I was a little hesitant of the mascara because of the shape. I wasn't sure I was going to like it.

It turns out I was right. I was sure which way to use this wand either. Although it was a little bit easier than the previous, I still wasn't thrilled with the outcome of my lashes. It didn't give much more drama than the last. I didn't like this one either and returned it. I would not recommend this mascara either.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Flex

I have never used a Rimmel mascara before but a friend recommended the original ScandalEyes. The CVS near me did not have the original in stock so I tried this. Out of the 4 mascaras I have tried in the past month I liked this one the best.

As you can see this brush is HUGE. It has to be the biggest one I have ever seen! This was the easiest brush to use and did the best at volumizing my eyelashes and making them look dramatic. I didn't have any clumping but because of the size of this brush this may dry out fast. I would say that this mascara is very similar to the Better than Sex mascara by Too Faced. It gives you a very similar effect but costs a third of the price ($24.00 vs $8.00). I actually prefer this mascara. I would definitely recommend this.

Have you tried any of these mascaras? What do you think of them? What is your favorite mascara? Post your comments below!

Liebster Award

Hi Ladies!

A fellow blogger Claire from Sprinkle of Claire (check out her blog) has nominated me for a Liebster Award! I am so excited and touched that someone would think to nominate me for any award. *UPDATE I was just informed that I was also nominated by Betti from Makeup' Asylum, Rhondine from I Am Born to Blossom, Sophie from Soapy Bubbles, and Beth from Beth and Beauty . Thanks Betti , Rhondine, Sophie, and Beth! Check out their blogs! These ladies have incredibly detailed reviews that are honest and super helpful! Sophie has also created a Google+ beauty community called Soapy Bubbles. Please be sure to join this community!

I was unfamiliar with what the Liebster Award actually was but have seen the name on Google+. A Liebster Award is an award to help promote new blogs and give them recognition.

Thank you so much to all these ladies for nominating me!

Review: Urban Decay Naked 2

Hi Ladies,

I know that the Naked 2 isn't necessarily NEW but the palette is new to me. I will give just a little review of it and then show you some looks that I created with it.

First off, for both Naked 2 and 3 I like the packaging way better than the original palette. The velvet feels nice but picks up dirt, shadow, and other particles so it looks dirty. I never really used the brush from the first palette but I tried the brush with this one and I would say it is ok. I probably would not choose to use this brush over my everyday brushes. I liked that I got to try out a lip plumper that they sell. The color sort of blended in with my lips and didn't come out the color it looks in the tube. Also, although it gave a cool and refreshing feel, I don't feel that my lips looked any plumper. I most likely would not purchase a full size of this.

Statement Jewelry

Hi Ladies!

Statement necklaces, earrings, and other unique pieces have become a big fashion trend over the past year. I have searched around a lot looking for the best places to purchase statement jewelry. Below is a list of companies selling higher priced statement jewelry and lower priced ones. I would love to be able to spend $30-$50+ on a necklace but it just isn't realistic for ME personally. However, some people are more than willing to do so.

Here are stores where you can get statement jewelry for under $50.00. These companies also have sales and such so you could even spend under $30.00 in some instances.

BaubleBar : There are some really beautiful pieces available on this site. They also have some awesome items on sale.

Valentine's Day Collaboration: One Palette Date

Hi Ladies!

My beautiful beauty blogger friends (BBBF! Did I just make that up?!)  Lily from Beauty with Lily and Jackie from Five Two Certified decided to create a fun Valentine's Day collaboration. They were nice enough to ask me to join. Each one of us had to create a full face look along with an OOTD (outfit of the day) on Polyvore. The twist to this collab was that we each could only use one eye/face palette to create our look. However, we could add in other face products for the rest of the look (foundation, blush, mascara, etc).

The Grammys

Hi Ladies!

Below are my favorite red carpet looks from the Grammy Awards. Red and Metallic colors seem to be the popular theme of the night.

Tamar Braxton in Michael Costello

This dress is simple but fits Tamar's body very well. The neckline adds a unique flair to the dress.

Miranda Lambert in Pamella Roland

This was my favorite dress of the night. Another simple yet stunning dress. I love the color and plunging neckline on Miranda. It emphasizes her tiny waist and her other assets. I think a nice dainty necklace would have been a great addition to this look.

Chrissy Teigen in Johanna Johnson

This dress is the definition of glam. I love the slit in the front of the dress and the train.

Taylor Swift in Gucci Premiere

Although I think this dress is a little bit mature for Taylor, she still looks beautiful in it. I love the shear metallic layer over the dress.
